College of Saint Rose freshmen, Jackie Brochu, left, from Douglas, MA and Emily Barcia-Varno from Bethlehem make sandwiches at the PB & Jams event at the college on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, in Albany, N.Y. The Saint Rose Student Association sponsored the peanut butter and jelly sandwich event, where students, faculty and staff volunteered their time to make over 3,500 sandwiches. The sandwiches will go to three area shelters for them to distribute. This is the fourth year of the event. The first year of the event 1,000 sandwiches were made. Organizers said that the goal every year is to increase the numbers. Cap Com FCU, Freihofer's, and Price Chopper along with other businesses donated the food supplies for the event.
