A collection of suffragette badges, 1900s.
A collection of suffragette badges, 1900s. The medal in the centre depicts a suffragette being force fed in prison. She is being held down and a tube is being pushed down her throat. The ribbon colours are the colours of the suffragette movement; purple for dignity, white for purity, and green for hope. To the left the orange badge says No Vote No Tax. The badge on the right conatins the initials WSPU, which stands for the Women's Social and Political Union. (Photo by Museum of London/Heritage Images/Getty Images)
