CYPRUS-ANIMAL-CAT-DAY
Cats take their afternoon nap at the Malcolm's Cats sanctuary in southwestern Cypriot village of Akrotiri, on August 3, 2018, five days ahead of the international cat day. - The sanctuary was started in the mid 1980s by Malcolm Stevenson. He rented an area on Ladies Mile Road where he was better able to care for stray cats.
The new site was opened in March 2002. The area that the site covers is 1600 square metres. It is situated on Sovereign Based Territory and has to meet all British health regulations and undergo regular inspections. It cat population varies between one and two hundred cats.
