Portrait of Aneurin Bevan
(Original Caption) Aneurin Bevan, beaming confidence, is shown arriving at transport house to face a loyalty test by a committee of eight appointed to decide whether he is to be expelled from the British Labor Party. The decision will come today but political opinion is that Bevin will escape expulsion. The Welsh radical was ejected from the Parliamentary Labor Party March 16th because he challenged Clement Attlee's leadership during the defense debate early this month. In a written statement Bevan said he intended to observe the rules and standing orders of the party in the future. He also apologized for any remarks about Attlee that might have been considered objectionable.
