About 400 people from the Karen ethnic minority came down...
KAREN STATE, MYANMAR - 2006/03/14: About 400 people from the Karen ethnic minority came down from their villages in Myanmar and Thailand to gather along the Salween River on the World Dam Opposition Day (03/14/2006). They demonstrated against projects of dams to be built on the Salween River, in Burmese territory and along the border between the two countries. They claim that the electricity from these dams will only benefit to Thailand and to the Burmese military and that their construction will increase the Burmese army's exactions in the region..
