Senator Sanders press statement on Republican tax reform goals

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders tells reporters at a briefing with congressional Democrats that his major fear is that while people are worried after a mass shooting in Las Vegas, disaster relief and Puerto Rico, North Korea and other issues that there is so much on the plate that Republicans might be able to slip through the most horrific and destructive budget in the history of the United States of America. Sanders says it is about transforming America into an oligarchic form of society which transfers trillions of dollars from the middle class to the top 1 percent, the Robin Hood principle in reverse. Sanders says Republicans are going after senior citizens in the fiscal 2018 budget and making cuts to Medicare of over $450 billion. Sanders calls on Trump to announce loudly and clearly that any cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security will be vetoed, that Republicans are wasting their time because that is what he told the American people during the 2016 election.
