Pa Aling fishermen plot a course for fishing - stock photo

Pa Aling fishermen plot a course for fishing. Pa Aling (Pa-aling) is a controversial Filipino fishing technique that involves a team of divers who breathe compressed air pumped down pipes from a boat. On the seabed the divers set up a huge net at one side of a deep sea reef and then swim across the reef in a line from the opposite side in order to corral fish into the net. (Also called Moro Ami fishing, Hookah pipe diving, compressed air diving). Location: South China Sea ocean reefs off the coast of northern Palawan, Palawan Island, MIMAROPA, Philippines.
