Caption: AMENAS GAS FIELDS, ALGERIA-JANUARY 25, 2013: This is a satellite image of the sprawling Amenas Gas Field in Algeria where Islamist militants took hundreds of civilians hostage, including staff from at least ten different countries. The standoff ended when Algerian forces stormed the facility three days later. The seize resulted in the death of 38 hostages and 29 militants. A spokesperson for the militant group said the hostage seizure was the response to the French warplanes attacking Mali’s militants.
