Tunnel Of Towers Charity Run

The 3.1 mile course follows the route that hero FDNY firefighters Stephen Siller took on Sept. 11, 2001, as he raced through the Battery Tunnel to get to the burning buildings. The even had extra meaning this year in light of the deaths last week of three retired firefighters who toiled at Ground Zero after 9/11. An estimated 30,000 runners finished the course from Brooklyn to the World Trade Center. Siller made the run in full gear, met up with his colleagues at the site and was among the 343 members of the FDNY who died that day. And 13 years later the 9/11 death toll continues to rise due to 9/11 related diseases. (Photo By: Todd Maisel/NY Daily News via Getty Images)
