JAPAN-CHINA-SKOREA-DIPLOMACY-WWII-YASUKUNI
People visit the controversial Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo on August 14, 2014, one day before the 69th anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II. An annual memorial ceremony for Japan's war dead will be held at the shrine on August 15. The shrine in the heart of Tokyo honours people who died during World War II -- including several war criminals and visits to the shrine have consistently enraged neighbours, including South Korea and China, which view them as an insult and a painful reminder of Tokyo's aggression during the war and its brutal occupation of the Korean peninsula.
