Lebanon, a country of just over four million people, is preparing to officially register its one millionth Syrian refugee as the Syrian conflict reaches its third anniversary. Lebanon's resources have been overburdened by the surge in population, and with no official refugee camps in the country, Syrians are forced to live in makeshift shelters across the country. Syrian refugee Feryal Delly, 29, and her husband, Rami, 36, care for their son, Zacharia, 4.5, who lies dying of a brain tumor as their other children look on. Kinana, 10: blue; Reema, 7, red shirt; Mustafa, 9, popeye shirt, and zacharia's twin, sidra, 4.5. Roughly a year and a half prior, doctors discovered a tumor in zacharia's kidney. He had two surgeries and eight chemo sessions. They commuted to Damascus for chemotherapy until the road became too dangerous, and they had to stop treatment. by the time they reached lebanon, he had missed a month of chemo, and his health deteriorated.
