PARIS, FRANCE: German-born American actress and singer Marlene Dietrich, performs 17 July 1939 at the stage of Paris' Opera. Marlene Dietrich, originally Maria Magdalene von Losch (1904-92), became famous in von Sternberg's 'Der Blaue Engel' (1930, The Blue Angel), and developed a glamourous and sensual film personality in such Hollywood films as 'Morocco' (1930) and 'Blond Venus' (1932). During World War II she often appeared in shows for Allied troops, and continued to make films after the War. Dietrich also became an international cabaret star.
