Clariant said 14 November 2006 that it would cut about 2200 jobs over the next three years, mainly through the closure of plants in Europe and reduce its product line by a quarter by 2009. Clariant makes specialist chemicals mainly for textile, leather and paper treatment, as well as colourings, pigments, detergents, and chemicals for plastics with European plants located in Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden.
